It is of international implication and has been elected a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO.Home to 95% of the birds of Sri Lanka, the forest offers ‘twitchers’ with a amusing environment in which to witness and study our many and varied species.Reptiles include the green-pit and hump-nosed vipers, and there is a large variety of amphibians, especially tree frogs. Invertebrates include the common birdwing butterfly.
